On Tuesday March 17th St. Patty's day I decided I would take a mommy to be day. I got my hair cut by my friend Amber, I got a massage and a pedicure! It all felt great and I thought that after such a relaxing day I just might be able to handle the next three weeks of pregnancy. I had a doctors appointment an the only issue was that my blood pressure was a bit high and the doctor was a little concerned about pre-eclampsia. She said she would monitor me closely. I was quite stressed about having pre-eclampsia and Dave decided that to take my mind off of it we should use our gift certificate to the Worthington Inn and take a nice date night together. It was perfect. We were able to sit outside on the patio and enjoyed each other. It was one of the best dates we have had in a long time! I love my husband.
In the early morning I woke up with what I thought was a killer back ache. It was keeping me up and I felt much more comfortable walking around the room than lying in bed. At this point I had no idea that this meant anything but my loving husband decided that since this "backache" was coming every four minutes he had better get to the school early and leave some sub plans. I thought this was ridiculous as I was just having a back ache.
At 6:30 my water broke. Fine this wasn't a back ache. I called my oh so intuitive husband and said, "Come home, my water just broke." He said, "I know. You're obviously in labor." I would like to add a side note here. For days leading up to this I had asked my friends with children how I would know that I was in labor. The overwhelming answer I recieved was "You'll just know." Well ladies. Here it is. I didn't know. My husband did. How about that for irony.
We left for the hospital after some serious scurrying around the house to pack a bag, take a last family photo with the puppies, and throw the car seat in the car. You better believe I got a shower, did my hair and put some makeup on. It may hurt like hell but I was going to look good on the day I delivered my baby!

Last family photo pre-Eli.
Daddy pulling together a suitcase of stuff. Who knows what actually ended up in there. At one point I remember yelling. Did you bring underwear? Did you bring my lipstick? Did you bring the bible? hahaha who knows what tools it might take to push out a baby, I wanted all things I know to be useful at my side. Underwear and scripture included. In the early morning I woke up with what I thought was a killer back ache. Last prego pic. Amazing how low my tummy looks here compaired to the day before. Elijah was headed the right direction.
After a long day at the hospital Elijah David Seed was born at 5:32 pm. He weighed 5lbs 2oz. and was 19 inches long. He was three weeks early but incredibly healthy for such a peanut. God held Eli in his hands in me. I feel so blessed and priviledged to be a woman who gave birth to a child. It was the most beautiful thing that has happened to me yet. I can't wait to see how God blesses us through Eli. Overwhelming joy and love are the dominant emotions, however I would be lying if I didn't say that fear and anxiety are up there too. I know that God will give us enough grace for each day of Elijah's life and we are so excited to get to be his mommy and daddy.

You crack me up! Seriously! I can't believe you got all ready and wore makeup! It's totally you! Loving you!
Don't worry, I didn't know I was in labor with Aly either. The hospital actually told me I was. And with Hannah I was induced!
What a sweet, sweet story :) How nice to have gone 3 weeks early! A 5lb baby would've rocked my world!! But He has a special plan for each of us;). Your little Eli is super, super precious. I can't wait to get together with you guys;).
